          A world-leading manufacturer of heavy duty commercial marine propulsion equipment is looking for Mechanical Assemblers. This company is located in the Northwest part of Houston. They are a TOBACCO FREE ENVIRONMENT.

The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembly, testing, troubleshooting and repair of the company?s marine propulsion products and systems.

 

Assemble, install, test, troubleshoot, and repair mechanically and hydraulically-driven propulsion machinery. 
Conduct factory acceptance testing of completed assemblies and components prior to shipping. 
Troubleshoot and repair defects and product failures and implement corrective actions. 
Complete required documentation on assembly procedures to include data entry to track history. 
Assist with the training of contractors, customers, and vendors on product operation and maintenance as required. 
Ensure quality control in accordance with the company ISO-9001:2008 Quality Assurance System (QAS). 
Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company HSE standards and procedures. 
Interact and support a broad spectrum of personnel internal and external to the company.  Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to reduce costs and add value to the organization.

This person will be responsible for developing welding techniques, procedures, and applications of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles.
Develop new fabrication processes and procedures which comply with numerous applicable marine classification society rules, and improve existing or develop new element designs, methods, techniques, and procedures.
Prepare material and time studies of new designs for material and resource planning purposes.
Establish welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post-heating requirements.
Support the design team in the design of fabricated parts, and acts as a member of the approval team for design approval.
Directs and coordinates technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure workers' compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; in testing welds for conformance with national code requirements; or testing welding personnel for certification.
